Importance of a Web Design

Before a visitors read the content on your website the first thing they look at is the design of the website. If your website does not have a color scheme that compliments the website it can be a real turn off. A good website design shows professionalism and that you mean business. If your website design was made unprofessionally it gives the visitors a sense that the owner of the website doesn’t care as much and is ’sloppy’ even if that isn’t the case. On the internet, the visitors will judge your website by it’s ‘cover’. There are several features that a good web design has compared to a unpleasant web design.

Features of a good Web Design

  • Matching color scheme that compliments the web design
  • Table-less and use of CSS for quick loads and easy edits
  • ‘Web 2.0′ colors such as Blue, Green, Pink, Orange, and other close variants
  • Simplicity and not overkilled with too many images
  • High contrast between the background and text for readability

Features of a bad Web Design

  • ‘Any how’ color choices. For example, choosing two colors that do not match.
  • Purely coded using tables without the use of CSS
  • Too many images and unnecessary embedded media causing the website to load slow
  • Low contrast between the background and text making it hard to read
